Victory State of the Union

by Johnson Bowie
Victory is one church in multiple locations, and we’ve been scattered across homes and campuses for the past several months. So, we decided to…
Sermon Notes

Why we are gathered here today:

  1. We are one Victory family.
    Hebrews 10:25 NLT
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do,
but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return
    is drawing near.
Why we are gathered here today:
  2. The Church of Jesus Christ feels divided right now.
1 Corinthians 13:4 NOV (New Opinions Version)
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is
not proud. It cancels people who disagree with you.
    Matthew 12:25 TPT
“Any kingdom that fights against itself will end up in ruins. And any
family or community splintered by strife will fall apart.”
The only way we’re going to get through this election season is
    TOGETHER.
    1 Timothy 2:1-6 MSG
The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know
how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their
governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of
living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior
God wants us to live. He wants not only us but everyone saved, you
know, everyone to get to know the truth we’ve learned: that there’s
one God and only one, and one Priest-Mediator between God
and us—Jesus, who offered himself in exchange for everyone held
captive by sin, to set them all free.
We pray for our leaders because how they LEAD will affect how we
LIVE, but we also remember that there is only ONE GOD and His
    name is JESUS!
Why we are gathered here today:
  3. Today is a sacred assembly.
    Joel 2:12-15 NIV
“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with
fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your
garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and
compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents
from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and relent and
leave behind a blessing—grain offerings and drink offerings for
the Lord your God. Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare A HOLY FAST,
    call a SACRED ASSEMBLY.
    2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves
and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I
will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their
    land.”
    The Lord’s Prayer
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your
kingdom come, your will be done, here on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we
have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver
us from evil. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory
    forever. Amen.”
