“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a
man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he
had and bought that field.”
1 Timothy 6:6-10 NLT
Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we
brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t
take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food
and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into
temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that
plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the
root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have
wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many
sorrows.
“As base a thing as money often is, it yet can be transmuted into
everlasting treasure. It can be converted into food for the hungry and
clothing for the poor; it can keep a missionary actively winning lost
men to the light of the gospel and thus transmute itself into heavenly
values. Any temporal possession can be turned into everlasting
wealth. Whatever is given to Christ is immediately touched with
immortality.” – A.W. Tozer
How to Live in Contentment:

  1. Discover true JOY.
    Philippians 4:11-13 NIV
    …I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know
    what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have
    learned the secret of being content in any and every situation,
    whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can
    do all this through him who gives me strength.
    Secret to Contentment:
    We don’t need someTHING, we need someONE.
    Philippians 3:7-9 NIV
    But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of
    Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the
    surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus is my Lord, for whose sake
    I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ
    and be found in him…
  2. Be THANKFUL for what you already have.
    1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
    Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who
    belong to Christ Jesus.
  3. Live like this world is not your HOME.
    Matthew 6:19-21 NIV
    “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and
    vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for
    yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not
    destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your
    treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
