The Power of the Seed

Sermon Notes

Mark 4:30-32 NKJ
Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with
what parable shall we picture it? It is like a mustard seed which, when
it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; but
when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and
shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under
its shade.”
Mark 9:23 NKJ
Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him
who believes.”
Philippians 4:13 NKJ
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
My potential works like a seed!
Principles of the Seed of Potential:

  1. The potential of all things is related to the source from which they
    came.
    Genesis 1:26 NKJ
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our
    likeness…”
    2 Peter 1:3-4 NKJ
…as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and
godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and
virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and
precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the
divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world
    through lust.
  2. All things must be maintained by the source from which they came.
    John 15:4-7 NKJ
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I
am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in
him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone
does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and
they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If
you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you
desire, and it shall be done for you.”
  3. The less God has to work with the more He can make.
    1 Corinthians 1:26-29 NIV
Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called.
Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were
influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish
things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of
the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this
world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify
the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.
  4. You have within you the potential to produce 100 times what you
    have produced.
    Mark 4:13-20 NKJ
And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then
will you understand all the parables? The sower sows the word. And
these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When
they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that
was sown in their hearts. These likewise are the ones sown on stony
ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with
gladness; and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only
for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the
word’s sake, immediately they stumble. Now these are the ones sown
among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of
this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things
entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. But these are
the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it,
and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
    Matthew 19:29-30 NKJ
“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or
mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive
a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be
    last, and the last first.”
