Philippians 3:12-14 NKJ
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press
on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid
hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but
one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching
forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for
the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 1:11-12 MSG
It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.
Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his
eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall
purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.
Proverbs 29:18 NKJ
Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint…
“Where there is no PURPOSE there is no self-control, no moral
conviction, no eternal boundaries.”
“Without PURPOSE we feel no passion for living; life has no
meaning.”

3 Things the Jews Had to Overcome:

  1. The failures of their past
  2. The realities of their present
  3. The uncertainty of their future

What It Takes to Move Forward Toward Your Purpose:

  1. Your hunger for God’s purpose becomes greater than your hunger
for the things of this world.
    Mark 4:19 NKJ
…and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the
desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes
    unfruitful.
  2. Stop trying to survive and start learning to live.
    Matthew 16:21-25 NKJ
From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to
Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests
and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. Then Peter
took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You,
Lord; this shall not happen to You!” But He turned and said to Peter,
“Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not
mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” Then Jesus said
to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to
save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find
    it.”
    Galatians 2:20 NKJ
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ
lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in
the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
  3. Keep your eyes on the prize.
    Philippians 3:13-14 NKJ
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I
do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to
those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of
the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
    2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NKJ
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is
perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our
light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more
exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the
things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the
things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not
    seen are eternal.
