I’m Never Alone

by Darius Dunson
God was not content with simply being with us. So, He sent His Holy Spirit to live in us. He is our helper and friend. He is the voice of God who guides and comforts. Because Christ returned to heaven and the Holy Spirit came, we are able to live in this truth: We are never alone!
Sermon Notes

John 14:16-17 NKJV

“And I (Jesus) will pray the Father, and He will give you another HELPER (Holy Spirit), that Hemay abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him…”

John 14:17 NKJV

“…for He dwells WITH YOU and will be IN YOU.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

John 16:13 NKJV

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, HE WILL GUIDE YOU into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears HE WILL SPEAK; and HE WILL TELL YOU THINGS to come.”

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE VOICE OF GOD.

Ruach: wind, breath, spirit

Acts 2:2-3 NKJV

And suddenlythere came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

Job 33:14 NLT

For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.

John 10:27-28 NLT

“My sheep LISTEN TO MY VOICE; I know them, and THEY FOLLOW ME. I give them eternal life, and THEY WILL NEVER PERISH. No one can snatch them away from me…”

I’M NEVER ALONE

1) His Voice Seals Me

Ephesians 1:13–14 NKJV

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NIV

Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his SEAL of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Romans 8:14–16 NKJV

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

I’M NEVER ALONE

2) His Voice Leads Me

He will speak to you through…

  1. The Word of God
  2. The people of God
  3. The inward witness

Romans 8:16 NKJV

The Spirit Himself BEARS WITNESS with our spirit…

John 16:13 NKJV

“… HE WILL GUIDE YOUinto all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears HE WILL SPEAK; and HE WILL TELL YOU THINGS to come.”

SPIRITUAL HEARING TEST:

1. Scripture: Does it align with the Bible?

Hebrews 4:12 NKJV

For THE WORD OF GOD is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of SOUL AND SPIRIT, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

2. Wisdom: Can you present it to people in your life with Godly wisdom?

“The Spirit may give you the picture, but you need people to help you develop the path.” – Johnson Bowie

3. Ministry: Does it glorify God?

I’M NEVER ALONE

3) His Voice Comforts Me

John 14:26–27 NKJV

“But the Helper (comforter), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Psalm 23:1–6 NKJV

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
