Genesis 1:26-28 NKJ
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our
likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the
birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every
creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His
own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He
created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be
fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over
the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing
that moves on the earth.”
Psalm 78:4-8 NLT
We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next
generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and
his mighty wonders. For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his
instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to
their children, so the next generation might know them—even the
children not yet born—and they in turn will teach their own children.
So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting
his glorious miracles and obeying his commands. Then they will not
be like their ancestors—stubborn, rebellious, and unfaithful, refusing
to give their hearts to God.
Characteristics of a Purpose Driven Family:

  1. They have a family vision.
    Proverbs 29:18 KJV
Where there is no vision, the people perish…
    Psalm 127:4 NKJ
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s
    Proverbs 22:6 NKJ
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will
    not depart from it.
    Proverbs 29:15 NKJ
…a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.
  2. They live a life that makes a difference.
    Philippians 2:1-4 NLT
Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort
from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts
tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing
wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another and working
together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to
impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than
yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an
    interest in others, too.
  3. They model a life of generosity.
    2 Corinthians 8:9-15 NLT
You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he
was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty
he could make you rich. Here is my advice: It would be good for you
to finish what you started a year ago. Last year you were the first who
wanted to give, and you were the first to begin doing it. Now you
should finish what you started. Let the eagerness you showed in the
beginning be matched now by your giving. Give in proportion to what
you have. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And
give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. Of course,
I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for
yourselves. I only mean that there should be some equality. Right
now you have plenty and can help those who are in need. Later, they
will have plenty and can share with you when you need it. In this way,
things will be equal. As the Scriptures say, “Those who gathered a lot
had nothing left over, and those who gathered only a little had
  4. They live a life that requires faith.
    Hebrews 11:6 NKJ
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to
God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who
    diligently seek Him.
    You Model Faith By:
    • how you handle adversity
    • how you give
    • how you speak
    • how you obey God regardless of the cost
